Munjed is committed to excellence in orthopaedic practice. He is an orthopaedic surgeon, Adjunct Clinical Associate Professor in the School of Medicine at Notre Dame University in Sydney and a Clinical Lecturer at Macquarie University. His passion for serving people in need has led him to an ambassadorial role with the Red Cross, as well as speaking for Amnesty International and the United Nations High Commission for Refugees. Much of his time is devoted to humanitarian causes, advocating for human rights and equality. Munjed also spends a significant amount of time on national and international charity work and operating in developing nations. He is a pioneer and recognised world leader in osseointegration prosthetic limb surgery for amputees and complex limb reconstruction surgery. Munjed is frequently visited by international surgeons seeking experience in osseointegration and complex limb reconstructive surgery, regularly visiting the United Kingdom, North America and developing nations to establish outreach centres based on the Australian model.

He is committed to teaching and research and has developed strong collaborations with local and international universities. He supervises PhD students, Australian Orthopaedic Association accredited fellowships, registrars and medical students. He also includes an orthopaedic research team in his private practice. In his day-to-day work, Munjed specialises in computer navigated total knee replacements, complex knee revision surgery, along with minimally invasive total hip replacement surgery (anterior approach), complex hip revisions and hip arthroscopies. Munjed also has an interest in sports-related hip and knee injuries, using minimally-invasive ligament reconstruction surgery.
